Bet everyone knows that this Friday, 22 August 2014 has been declared the national day of mourning for the victims of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) MH17.
For movie goers, there’s an air of confusion since a statement released by the Ceremonial Secretariat division of the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday, 17 August 2014 stated that all entertainment-related events this Friday would have to be postponed.
For cinemas, Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek had advised that all cinemas should interrupt the screening of films for a minute of silence.
Nonetheless, local cinemas have confirmed that they would be heeding the minute of silence, but shall be operating as usual.
Several cinemas like Golden Screen Cinemas and TGV Cinemas would however go the extra mile that day by asking their staff to dress in an all black shirts and long black pants.
The Plasma TV displays at GSC Cinemas would also be toned down from colour to black and white.
Other than that, all movie screenings in GSC, TGV, and other cinemas will adhere to their show times this Friday, and will be not be changed.
