A Malaysian tour guide died last Saturday while trying to rescue a Singaporean tourist under his care.

The guide, 42-year-old Kevin Tan Chew, jumped into a 4-metre deep pool at the foot of the Perting Pandak Waterfalls in Bentong, Pahang, after the Singaporean got into difficulties and was struggling in the water.

The 35-year-old Singaporean was eventually rescued. He was part of a group of ten Singaporean tourists under Tan.

Tan’s body was found after a search operation lasting about two hours.
