Previously, we were told that there was a new service soon to be revealed by TM called TMgo.
The service would see TM tapping into the wireless market by offering 3G/4G/LTE services at several selected places in Malaysia for starters.
Well, today, TM has not only confirmed, but announced the arrival of such services with 17 locations in Kedah and Melaka being its maiden service area.
According to TM, the service is well targeted to places which they feel is undeserved by high-speed broadband although we do feel that it would greatly benefit TM which is losing millions per year from cable theft.
At RM115, the cheapest TMgo package does sound really expensive, but it does come with a free 4G SIM, a 4G adapter, a 2GB surfing quota, a 30-day validity, and a free 500MB bonus quota for the next six month. The 4G Mobile Router Package is similar to the Adapter Package, so the extra RM200 you are paying is basically for the router itself.
Speeds are expected to go from 1.5Mbps to 20Mbps according to location, and those needing more data can reload to gain more quota at very affordable rates as seen below.
In line with the new product, TM has also opened a new sub-portal for consumers to gain more information. Those keen to know more are therefore advised to go to the official site of TMgo.
Since Sarawak has one of the biggest ‘undeserved area’ for High Speed Broadband, it is our hope that TM would quickly bring in TMgo to the state.
