The massive influx of passport application at the Immigration Office in Selangor is believed to have caused a technical glitch for the system needed to make and renew passports in Klang Valley.
According to a report by The Star, long queues were seen at UTC Pudu Sentral with similar problems also encountered at other Immigration offices in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
It was reported that Putrajaya normally handles about 300-400 passports in a day, but now, the number has surged unexpectedly to 700.
Putrajaya has said that they are working around the clock to resolve the issue and assured that the case is isolated and merely involving branches in the Klang Valley.
Glitch or not, it is always advisable to those wanting to renew or apply for their passports to do so weeks in advance to avoid missing that overseas trip you have always planned for.
