Residents of Kampung Gersik made a peaceful demonstration over the delay of their future village surau, which cost about RM1.3 million.

The demonstration is said to be done because the residents felt that the project was delayed, and they hoped it would be completed soon.

Some residents expressed their concern that Kampung Gersik’s image as a Sarawak Kek Lapis hub in Kuching would be tarnished if they didn’t have a proper surau to pray in.

The surau project at Kampung Gersik is suppose to be completed this coming March 5th, but it is understood that unsuitable soil condition has slowed down construction.
