Kuching city will play host to the state-level birthday celebrations of the 14th Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Alhaj Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah from June 1 to 2.
The Information Department said the celebrations would start with a thanksgiving ceremony at Masjid Jamek, Petra Jaya, on Friday evening followed by a Tea Party at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) complex the next day.
Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Norkiah will attend both events together with Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud dan wife Puan Sri Ragad Kurdi Taib, and other cabinet ministers and local dignitaries will also attend.
Tun Salahuddin is also scheduled to launch an Information Department’s pictorial exhibition entitled ‘Our King’ (Raja Kita) at the atrium the (DUN) complex after the Tea Party.
Members of the public are invited to visit the same exhibition at the Sarawak Museum from June 4 to 10 to get to know our present King better. The exhibition showcases various pictures of the King, previous rulers and their royal regalia.
It is opened from 9am to 4.30pm and entrance is free.
