RM1 million has been allocated by the prime minister to help give Sibu Central Market a thorough facelift.
This was decided by the three hawkers’ associations here – Sibu Central Market Hawkers’ Association, Sibu and Meradong Divisions Hawkers’ Association and Sibu Petty Traders’ Association – at a meeting on Monday with Sibu Municipal Council.
A detailed plan on the proposed upgrading will be submitted to the Prime Minister’s Department. The market is the largest in Malaysia with over 1,400 traders doing business on a daily basis.
