The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results announced yesterday is the best for Sarawak in six years with the state scoring a State Average Grade (GPN) of 5.39 compared to the 5.58 scored in 2010.
Sarawak had 48 candidates obtaining A+ in all subjects compared to 36 last year in which five candidates obtained 11 A+, 40 obtained 10A+, and three with 9A+ in all the subjects they sat for.
Four schools namely SM Sains Kuching, SM Sains Miri, Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Betong and Maktab Rendah Sains MARA Kuching recorded a 100 per cent pass in all subjects.
The number of schools in Sarawak ranked as ‘excellent’ based on the GPN has also increased from one in 2010 to three schools in 2011. Excellent schools are those categorized with a GPN of 0.00 to 2.25.
