A Sarawakian couple was bludgeoned to death with an axe in a bedroom at a seafood factory at Bundusan industrial area in Penampang early Friday.

The blood-soaked body of Chen Ching Woei, 42, was found on the bed while his wife Chang Ling Ling, 44, was lying on the floor.

It is learnt that, Chen had been working as the factory driver for two years while Chang was a part time clerk for another company.

The couple from Kuching came to work in Sabah several years ago.

It is learnt that initialy police investigation showed wounds found on the victims’ heads and there was no forced entry.

Police later recovered an axe, believed to be the murder weapon in a bin and several clothing articles were found under a truck outside the factory.

Police also reviewed the footage from the closed-circuit television installed in the building and other premises surrounding the factory.

No belongings were stolen from victims and the case was classified as murder.

The bodies were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for post-mortem.

Penampang police chief DSP Ratan Kumar Singh, when contacted, said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
