Over 200 residents of Rh Suhan at Sg Sengan in Sibu were made homeless when their century-old stilt wooden longhouse was razed to the ground yesterday.
According to the Borneo Post, Rh Suhan which is located at Sg Sengan is some 34km from Sibu, and it is a 19 door longhouse.
There wasn’t any casualties reported, but one car and a motorcycle was completely burned.
The Sibu Fire and Rescue Department responded swiftly upon receiving the distress call by sending in four fire engines. However they were too late to save the raging blazed from burning down the wooden longhouse.
Fire victims are said to be putting up with relatives nearby with some staying at temporary shelters.
