We’re sure you’ve heard of sea surfing, but we believe many have not heard of river surfing, and this unique yet extraordinary ‘sport’ can be found in Sarawak during the Tidal Bore Festival, or Pesta Benak.

Tidal bore or locally known as benak, occurs everyday with different wavelengths and heights. However, during spring tide, tidal bores with high magnitude can be observed clearly and this condition makes river surfing a reality.  As we know, there are only 5 other countries in Asia experiencing the tidal bore, and Sarawak’s Sri Aman offers the best in terms of festivities and waves (Our bias opinion Innocent ).

So if you have free time during the 1st-4th of July 2011, head on to Sri Aman to observe the unique waves.
