Sarawak started their campaign to return to top flight football in Malaysia with a narrow 2-1 win over the Northern Lions, Perlis.

Both teams started aggressively when the start whistle blew with Perlis making their effort count with an early goal to put the home team ahead.

However, the visiting Crocs were in no mood to stay behind as their latest signing, Croation Ivan Babic leveled the score 1-1 minutes after that.

Another debut player, Bobby Gonzalez then made it 2-1 for the Crocs when he made no mistake to strike in Sarawak’s lead.

The game restarted after the breather with both teams exchanging attacks. Sarawak was then reduced to 10 men after defender Ramesh Lai earned his marching orders for a a second bookable offense when he was accused of delaying play.

The Crocs, vulnerable at the back, started to play with more caution up to the final whistle, hence ensuring that the first Premier League game was won by the team traveling from Borneo.

Final score: Perlis 1-2 Sarawak
