KUCHING: Some 50 people gathered in Friendship Park, Kuching today to attend what is deemed as Perhimpunan Ungu (Purple gathering) which is backed by opposition party, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
Police presence was quite obvious, but no untoward incidents was reported with the police force largely seen just monitoring the situation.
The assembly has been peaceful and is organised by the coalition of 15 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) known as Wanita Suara Perubahan. It was held to call for clean governance free of corrupt practices.
Online reports suggest that the assembly is non-political, but attendance in the crowd may just suggest otherwise as some came bearing their political t-shirts. (Photo obtained from WanitaSuaraPerubahan’ twitter account)
