The Borneo Post reported that the implementation of Phase I of a traffic master plan to ease traffic congestion at commercial areas in Kota Sentosa (photo) started Monday with a cost of RM639,000.
The improvements involved the closure of a median break at Lorong Liu Shang Bang 4, prohibition of right turning from the wet market to Jalan Liu Shan Bang, construction of a road hump to reduce vehicular speed, and widening of roads by converting angle parking to parallel parking.
The main road from Sacred Heart Church to Pizza Hut (new commercial area) would be widened up to the road leading to SSCPA, while a right-turn lane to Kuching-Serian road would be built, including a new RC box culvert and a new median.
Traffic directions and parking layout in areas around the wet market would be revised.
Implementation of Phase I is expected to be completed by Oct 20, 2013, while the other two faces would be done in future.
