The surge in Sarawak football has not gone un-noticed as two more Sarawakian players from the current Sarawak squad, and one more from ATM has been called up to play for Malaysia in their friendly with Sri Lanka this coming 28 April 2012.
Sarawakians making the latest list are pin-sized defender Dzulazlan Ibrahim, and potent strikers Venice Elphi and Ashri Chuchu.
The list shows that Malaysian coach K Rajagopal is set to continue his experiments to find the team he feels best to represent Malaysian as the likes of Safee Sali, Kahrul Fahmi Che Mat and Norshahrul Idlan Talaha remain excluded from the latest call-ups.
Nonetheless, for Sarawakians in general, the call up by the national squad is nothing short of an achievement as Sarawakians are rarely featured in the national squad, and has been deemed by many local fans as being ‘forgotten’.
For Ashri Chuchu and Venice Elphi, this is their second call-up for Malaysia, with Venice having scoring in his debut match against Sarawak, and Ashri has yet to play. Dzulazlan whom is hard to get by as a defender has gained praises, and this is his first call up.
