AirAsia and Malaysia Airlines have cancelled flights to and from Bali and Lombok, Indonesia on Friday after the airports were closed because of volcanic activity in Mount Raung.
AirAsia said that according to a Notice to Airmen issued, the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali will be closed from 9.25am to 9.30pm while the Lombok International Airport will be closed from 9.12am to 9.30pm.
AirAsia said they would notify affected guests of their flight cancellations and the options that will be available to them.
Malaysia Airlines, which operate flights to Bali, said they were monitoring the situation closely and would provide regular updates.
Mount Raung in East Java, one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes, has been spewing ash into the air for almost a week, obscuring visibility at the Ngurah Rai airport.
