The Malaysian government has said that it will block Facebook is the public request such move.

Such announcement was made by the the Communication and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek.

According to numerous news reports, the government is currently collecting public feedback on the matter, but has stressed that such move is considered ‘radical’.

We feel it is highly unlikely that the government would go ahead to block Facebook as such move would create an unimaginable back-lash from the people, including the fact that it may be used for political gains.

Perhaps the government should enhance programs meant to educate the people on how to use social media properly.
