Malaysia launch its first ever elevated Bus Rapid System (BRT) in Sunway today, with a distance of 5.4km covered by the new system.

The BRT system is expected to enhance mobility for commuters and reduce traffic congestion in the Klang Valley, particularly in the Bandar Sunway and Subang Jaya areas.

The RM634mil project is a collaboration between Prasarana Malaysia Berhad and Sunway Berhad, and it can be used by commuters for free for two months.

BRT is a high-capacity urban public-transit system with its own right of way, multiple-car vehicles at short headways, and longer stop spacing than traditional streetcars and buses.

BRT uses buses on a wide variety of rights-of-way, including mixed traffic, dedicated lanes on surface streets, and busways separated from traffic.
