In support of local national sports, Astro will expand its Kem Badminton Astro tryout training sessions this Saturday, 28th September 2013 at Arena Sukan Simpang Tiga, Kuching, Sarawak and 5th October 2013 at Dewan Badminton Kompleks Sukan Likas, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from 8am to 11am.

The Kem Badminton Astro 2013 was recently launched on 14 Sept 2013 with over 500 children from Johor Bahru, Negeri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Melaka, Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang taking part in the tryouts.

The camp is a youth development programme that aims to identify and nurture the badminton playing techniques of talented children from 10 to 12 years old and to become the country’s next generation of professional badminton players.

All six tryout sessions will be headed by Encik Muhtasham Katan, a qualified BAM Coach, BAM Education Panel Coach, BAM & BAC (Badminton Asia Confederation) Instructor as well as MSN Coaching Manager and assisted by at least 10 BAM coaches at every tryout locations.

Upon completion of the six tryout sessions, 60 outstanding children will be selected to undergo a one-week Intensive Training in Kuala Lumpur to enhance their skills, fitness and strategy conducted by qualified Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) coaches, national coaches and national players.

The best 30 selected participants will then be invited to trained together with Japan’s Kanto Junior Team by Nippon Badminton Association coaches at the Ajinomoto National Training Centre for a week. They will be housed at the prestigious Athlete Village. Also during their training in Japan, Kem Badminton Astro’s participants can look forward to a friendly match against Japan’s Kanto Junior Team to test and further improve their badminton skills.
