James Chan would continue to serve as mayor of the Kuching City South Council (MBKS) for another three years as agreed by the State Cabinet.

The news was confirmed by Minister of Local Government and Community Development Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh.

The Cabinet decision on Thursday paved way for Chan to serve his third term as mayor of MBKS.
Chan had served two terms as mayor of MBKC since 2008 in which he succeeded Chong Ted Tsiung as mayor in June 2008.

Before being appointed as MBKS mayor, Chan was the general manager for Harwood Timber Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation.
