The golden pedestrian bridge which will link Kuching Waterfront and the Astana is set to start construction next year.

The Star reports that the main contractor would be selected by year end, and the bridge would be constructed immediately if no problems arise.

The iconic structure is claimed to enhances the beauty of Kuching city as it connects the waterfront, shophouses and the Astana and traditional Malay villages located along the riverbank.

The Public Works department are also reported to be finalizing details of the bridge which is said to be ‘light weight’.
