The Malaysian Multimedia and Communications Commission (MCMC) have earmarked five longhouses in Bakong, Puyut and Ulu Teru in the Marudi constituency for wi-fi coverage.

The five longhouses earmarked to be wired up with wi-fi facilities are Rumah Engkas, (Sungai Mallang), Rumah Mathew Sigan, Ulu Teru, Rumah Abok (Lubok Mulong), Rumah Entika, Sg Puyut and Rumah Edward Gani.

This could benefit about 3,000 people from the respective longhouses, linking them up to the world through the government’s initiative to reduce the digital gap between rural and urban centres.
