Word has got out that the fictional ‘Dracula Untold’ movie which I said gave ‘Dracula’ a fresh twist, and is currently playing in cinemas, might get banned.

According to CinemaOnline.com.my, the movie irked a few Muslim scholars as is deemed to have insulted Islam.

In the movie, Allah is written in Arabic on a paper agreement between the Turkish Sultan and the Prince of Transylvania with the movie also portraying Sultan Mehmed II as a cruel and evil Muslim lord who enslaved children for his army.

According to Berita Harian, the matter is currently undergoing discussion stages by the Film Censorship Board (LPF) of Malaysia, and further action can only be taken after the internal board members have formed an agreement.

“Dracula Untold” tells the story of Vlad III Tepes, also known as Vlad the Impaler, on his battle against the Turkish army in order to protect his family and kingdom and also how he became the vampire, Dracula.

It is quite likely that as the issue gets heated, the movie will be pulled from cinemas, so if you are keen to watch it, do so now.
