SUBANG JAYA, 30 August 2018 – As Malaysians, there are many qualities that set us apart from each other and make us unique, but it is our values passed on from one generation to the next and spirit of unity that makes us come together as one.
This is but one of the many messages displayed in Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“Digi”)’s National Day video for this year. The three-minute rousing video featuring a miniature town took a page out of the history books by headlining the many accomplishments of Malaysians across the years – from the declaration of independence to triumphs on the international stage when it came to sporting events, amongst many others.
From mouth-watering hawker food and late night mamak sessions to just the simple act of helping a neighbour, the ‘Made in Malaysia’ themed video was created to tell the stories of Malaysians, their achievements, creations and homegrown brands which was also a reflection of the self-belief and pride of Malaysians at large today.
Digi’s Head of Marketing Services, Bernard Lee, expressed that they wanted to play up and highlight the strength of all things Made in Malaysia – its people, places, things and brands.
“We encapsulated and captured this whole thought that the future is great when it’s Malaysian Made. Based on this very concept of #MalaysianMade, the team selected the miniature town style execution because it adds to the whole handmade, self-made feel to the film,” he elaborated.
The video showcased the handiwork of Eddie Putera, an artist well-known for his story-telling using detailed miniature dioramas inspired by his observations of his beloved homeland. It was also a collaboration with Dr Madhusudhan Shanmugan, fondly known as the Teddy Bear Doc; the brave souls from Persatuan Malim Gunung Malaysia as well as the team from SAYS, GRAB and R.AGE.
The video was created to play up and highlight the strength of all things made in Malaysia – people, place, things and brands, encapsulating the notion that the future is great when it is Malaysian Made.
