Long queues were observed in petrol stations in Kuching as heavy vehicles, mostly using Diesel try to purchase the fuel which is said to be experiencing major shortage throughout the state.
A check by SarawakBloggersNet reveal that some 7 out of the 10 petrol stations visited were already out of the fuel with signs (image) prominently displayed.
Matt, who owns a car powered by diesel, said that he heard rumors that the shortage was caused by enforcement officers quashing illegal sale of the fuel, prompting diesel users who obtain the fuel illegally to turn to the legal petrol stations for their fuel source.
Nonetheless, the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry has taken action to address the fuel shortage by approving additional quota of diesel in the state.
The additional quota is said to be about 2 million litres of diesel.
