For three consecutive years since 2009, bands from Holland had enlivened the Borneo Jazz Festival in Miri with their Dutch flavours and this is set to continue with the New Cool Collective(Pic below provided by STB) which will make their debut appearance on Borneo Jazz stage this coming 11-12 May.
The band found their fans in the younger younger club goers as their beats were distinctively different from the pure jazz tunes you normally get.
The band has won an Edison, the Heineken Crossover Music Award and the Gouden Notenkraker. In the recent years, they have toured England, Germany, Benelux, Africa, Canada, Russia and Japan. They have not only played in the hippest clubs but also in giant rock and pop festivals such as Roskilde festival in Denmark, Sziget in Hungary, Pinkpop and Lowlands in the Netherlands, Camden Mix Festival in London, and the Aberdeen Alternative Festival in Scotland.
The Jazz festival in Miri will mark their first ‘music adventure’ in Borneo and consequently, their inaugural appearance in South East Asia, and that makes a good excuse for you to be at this magnificent festival this year!
