News reports online have surfaced about Air Asia being in trouble with the Autralian consumer watchdog over its ‘misleading promotional fares’.

In numerous online reports, it is reported that The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) had taken action in Australia’s Federal Court against AirAsia claiming it displayed some airfares from Australian cities that didn’t include all taxes, duties, fees and other mandatory charges. The routes quoted are Melbourne, Perth and the Gold Coast.

Air Asia is a leading low cost carrier from Malaysia which has been using the gimmick of showing ‘non-conclusive airfares’ on many of their promotions.

Air Asia X, which is part of Air Asia flies international routes for the airlines, and has since axed several routes to Europe and India.
