4,000 Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphones and it’s 10400mAh powerbank were sold in a mere 17 minutes when the Chinese maker opened its online sales for Malaysia at 12 noon today.
The sale saw buyers being able to purchase the Mi 3 at only RM889, with the powerbank going at only RM36.
According to Lowyat.net, the powerbank was sold out in only nine minutes, which was double the time needed by the Mi 3 to be sold out.
But not all purchasers of the Mi 3 were genuine, as seconds after the Mi 3 was sold out, scalpers appeared on several tech sites offering the phone at prices at higher rates, some pricing their Mi 3 at RM1400.
Fortunately for genuine buyers whom were unable to purchase the Mi 3, Xioami has taken steps to address the scalpers by announcing they will be making another 6,000 Mi 3 smartphones available at the same price (RM889) this coming 27 May 2014.
Those wanting the powerbank would however need to wait a little longer as Lowyat.net has confirmed that the powerbank stock will still only be available on a later date.
Those interested to try their luck again this 27 May can do so by going to the official Xiaomi website.
