After months of testing, Xiaomi is finally releasing the MIUI 9 to global users, and a whopping 32 smartphones under the brand would be getting the polished operating system.

This for me, reflects how well the Chinese smartphone maker is supporting their devices with latest software updates, with some smartphones released back in the year 2012. I mean, not many phone manufacturers bother to up-date their devices, with many just promising software updates within a two year gap of the device release.

I am made to understand that the first few to get the MIUI 9 would be owners of the Redmi Note 4, the Mi Mix 2 and the Mi Max 2, all top Xiaomi smartphones you can buy at great prices on Lazada right now.

For those not familiar with MIUI, think of it as Android on steroids, because it really is simply different from the stock Android you typical find in most Android phones.  In fact, using the MIUI may give you a slight feel of the iOS, well… because the MIUI is a bit inclined towards imitating Apple’s famed operating system.

Anyway, the MIUI promises some notable changes to the whole MIUI operating system which includes a retooled notification pane, an all new image editor, a new Mi Video App, and an improved Mi Drop feature.

Aside from those features, the MIUI 9 also introduces the split screen feature, a calendar with holiday cards feature, exclusive sticker and theme packs and of course twice the optimization for faster speeds.

I have always favored the MIUI over stock Android, so I am pretty excited with the global release. Nonetheless, if you own one of the 32 devices getting the update, you may want to wait for a couple of weeks before you hit ‘update’ because despite being released as ‘a stable version’, there may still be some tiny little bugs which may pop up.
