The police force of the Cat City will soon have eyes from above as the installation of 24-High definition Closed-circuit television (CCTV) around the city has been completed. Each CCTV is equip with an announcer speaker.

These CCTV’s are now operational, but will go for further testing before it is handed over to the North Kuching CIty Comission (DBKU), in which the police will undergo a training on the system on April 22nd.

The 24-CCTVs can record up to 45-days, and will be switched on for 24 hours to address crime, public dumping and other offenses. It can reach an optical radius of 200m.

Locations which have these CCTV are Jalan Khoo Hun Yeang, Kuching Waterfront, Cat Statue Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Padungan, Waterfront, Medan Pelita Lebuh Wayang, India Street, Kubah Ria/FAMA, FAMA Car Park, Jalan Main Bazaar, Pearl Street, Jalan P.Ramlee, Jalan Gambir/Esplanade, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Padang Merdeka, Jalan Haji Taha, Jalan Kulas, Jalan Satok, Wisma Satok, Jaln Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce off Jalan Green, MASJA, Jalan Semariang, Pasar Tamu Satok, Samariang New Township and the DBKU compound area.
