Miri will soon have a 12 km esplanade when the government develops the sea side of Lutong (1st Mile) at Kuala Baram.

Datuk Lee Kim Shin was quoted by online portal Miri Today as saying that the project will be built in stages, with the first phase costing about RM3 million.

Lee further said that the current Luak esplanade in the south of Miri is too far for residents of Senadin, Permyjaya, Tudan and Lutong, and hence why he hoped that the new esplanade will help residents nearby have better recreational options.

The project is to be managed by the Miri City Council (MCC).
