Twelve items are placed under the controlled price list for a week, beginning May 27.
These items are live chicken, standard chicken (slaughtered and dressed chicken with leg, head, liver and gizzard), super chicken (slaughtered and dressed chicken without leg, head, liver and gizzard), live spent chicken, chicken egg grade A, chicken egg grade B, chicken egg grade C, imported beef, local buffalo meat, imported bone-in mutton, pork (belly) and pork (lead and fat).
It applies to wholesale and retail prices although the former has an additional controlled item, which is live pig sold at piggeries.
Those found selling these items above the maximum prices fixed could be fined up to RM100,000 or jailed not more than three years or both whereas the compound could go up to RM50,000 while companies found defying this could be fined up to RM500,000 or compounded up to RM250,000.
