Sarawakians of all walks of life, some still in baju kurung and baju melayu came in thousands to welcome diving queen Pandelela Rinong as #twtuppandelela was held by netizens whom were at Kuching International Airport VVIP terminal. Also with her was Traisy Vivien Tukiet and Bryan Nickson Lomas.
Her arrival was welcomed by VIPs and those with special passes at Gate 8 of the Kuching International Airport, while the crowd gathered outside the VIP arrival hall. Cheers of ‘Sarawak Boleh! Bidayuh Boleh! Malaysia Boleh’ echoed outside the terminal as anxious fans and admirers crowded the entrances to the terminal.
When the diving darling appeared to the crowd, the cheers got louder as traditional Bidayuh music was played live. Soon after the Chinese lion dance was also presented to the diving ace, and the Malay kompang group joined the merriment in chorus.
Pandelela was all smiles as she shook as many hands as she could, while the police tried to control the massive crowd. Banners, poster and Sarawak flags flooded the sky as Pandelela was ushered to the awaiting Mini-Cooper motorcade.
The 19 year old diving star was then driven in a motorcade to the TYT’s residence to be conferred a state award and study scholarship by the state, before she appears to the public at the Kuching Civic Center.
The diving ace is expected to leave for KL tomorrow.
