Tabloid paper fined according to Penan customary law

Harian Metro was fined according to Penan customary law for its report alleging incest in the community.

This was revealed by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu whom said Harian Metro was fined 50 tasah for the offence of disseminating lies.

The minister added that said the tabloid had admitted its “guilt and misconduct” during a meeting with Penan headmen, including paramount chief Temenggong Datuk Hasan Sui, last Friday and that the payment of the fine will be publicly handed over at a date set by the Penan community leaders.

According to Jabu, the tasah is a sheet of rubber obtained from a wild rubber tree.
