The Kaul fest begins officially today with many activities being planned at Kala Dana Beach from April 21 to 29.
The fest which is a Melanau animistic celebration is held for purification and thanksgiving to appease the spirits of the sea, land, forests and farm. Modern Melanau’s have embraced Christianity and Islam, but the festival still goes on for cultural purposes.
