The legendary balafon player, Mamadou Diabate, comes to Sarawak with his Percussion Mania band.
A griot by birth, bound to preserve the traditional music of his forefathers, he brings hypnotic chants, powerful drumbeats, the spectacular ngoni, supported by talking drums, dun-duns, djembes and an electrifying bass.
They are all about colour and the vibrant celebration of life, the way only a West African band can do. This is West Africa at its best.
Mamadou Diabete will showcase the African specials on Saturday, 13 July at the annual Rainforest World Music Festival.
