Sarawak whom was eyeing their second win of the season wasted no time to attack as they rushed to the Settler’s goal mouth the moment the whistle was blown. However, with Felda United defending in numbers, the Crocs were left disappointed as every attack was absorbed. With Sarawak looking desperate for maximum points and attacking at every possible angle, the Settlers resorted to time wasting to curtail the momentum of the Crocs.
In the 18th minute, Sarawak had one of the best chances in the first half but Muratovic failed to push in a straight pass from Zamri Morshidi.
Sarawak’s anxiety in attacking left them vulnerable at the back. This was utilized fully by the Settlers as unmarked Mohd Firdaus scored in the 38th minute for Felda United to lead the game.
The goal shocked the Crocs, as they started loosing concentration and momentum. However, the sole goal by Felda United stood until the end of the first half.
In the second half, Sarawak made an immediate change by removing K Rajan for local boy Ashri ChuChu. Ashri gave immediate impact to the game and his efforts allowed Sarawak to ‘ambush’ the Felda United goalmouth immediately after the starting whistle of the second half. The ‘ambush’ caused chaos among Felda United defenders whom failed to clear a through pass to Muratovic whom calmly slotted in the equalizer, hence erupting massive cheers from the home fans.
The goal also proved to be the turning point of the game as the Crocs started to dictate the game and launch non-stop attacks leaving fans standing for vast periods of the second half.
In the 66th minute, Rashid Aya came close to putting the Crocs ahead, but his shot on goal hit the post for a fruitless corner. A minute later, Muratovic came closer to doubling his score for the night, but his shot was saved by Felda United’s goalkeeper for yet another fruitless corner. Sarawak continued the pressure on Felda United’s goalmouth, but Felda United’s goalkeeper kept his goal safe.
In the 72nd minute, Muratovic again almost scored after he received a pass from the flanks, but his shot hit the Felda United defenders whom were defending in abnormal numbers. A corner which followed afterwards also failed to change the scoreline. Desperate to win, the Crocs brought in Ravindran for Zamri Morshidi as Felda United dropped deeper in defensive mode.
In the 77th minute, unmarked Ashri received a pass from Bwele, but his shot on goal was again stopped by the Felda United’s goalkeeper.
With another draw looking very much a certainty, Ashri unleashed his magic as his nippy body dribbled past three Felda United players, before he brilliantly tapped in a lovely grounder to hit the back of the Settler’s net, and hence giving Sarawak the win!
The win puts Sarawak in 10th spot after Sabah held Kedah 2-2, and PKNS overcame Selangor 2-0.
Final Score: Sarawak 2 – 1 KL Felda United
