Sarawak vs Kelantan

Kuala Lumpur 1-1 Sarawak: Defiant City Boys hold Crocs

Sarawak gave Kuala Lumpur their second point of the season after a 1-1 draw at Hang Jebat Stadium.

The game started with Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur both wary of each other, prompting the game to go by slowly.  However, Sarawak started to gain composure and move forward for the full points.

Despite their efforts, they failed to penetrate the Kuala Lumpur defence which was rock solid with Joel Epalle and Ashri Chuchu both guilty of failing to finish up chances created by the Sarawak engine room.

Kuala Lumpur which remained rather defensive throughout the game  however broke the deadlock after Zakaria Charara slotted in a penalty kick in the 40th minute, putting the City Boys ahead of the visiting team.

Sarawak tried to fight back when Joel broke loose from his marker to square the ball to Guy Bwele, but Bwele failed to connect to the pass which was also missed by Ashri.

The half time ended with Kuala Lumpur having the lead.

Sarawak showed more urgency after the breather with the inclusion of Zamri Morshidi.  Ashri connected well with Zamri as both of them wasted no time to run the City Boys defence ragged.

In the 50th minute, a lovely pass from Ashri met Joel whom wasted no time to slot in the equalizer, and hence giving him his debut goal.

Moments later Zamri received a cheeky pass to his feet but he choose to balloon the ball over the goal bar to keep the scoreboard unchanged.

Sarawak pressed harder through efforts from Sharol Saperi, K Rajan and Ashri, but their shots were either off target or denied by the defensive Kuala Lumpur players whom by now have resorted to time wasting.

To make matters worst, Sarawak also had what seemed to be a hand ball offence turned down in the penalty box.

Robert Alberts decided to inject Azizan Baba into the game to improve Sarawak’s chances, but the Kuala Lumpur defence remained closed to any leaks including a free kick effort from Guy.

The game ended with both teams sharing the spoils as the result would very much unlikely improve both Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur’s standings in the league.

Final Result: Kuala Lumpur 1 – 1 Sarawak
