James Chan to be Mayor of MBKS for another two years

James Chan’s contract as mayor of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will be extended by another two-year term as revealed by Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud yesterday.

He said there was no reason for Chan’s tenure to be terminated.

Chan was appointed mayor of MBKS on June 1, 2008. His contract was renewed in 2010. This would be his third term in office.

Chan was the general manager of Harwood Timber, a subsidiary of Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC), prior to his appointment.
